Children’s Yoga

Jenny O. adores working with children and is trained to lead youngsters in Radiant Child Yoga. Much like yoga for the naturally inquisitive adult, Radiant Child Yoga addresses the body, mind, and spirit of the child in ways that are fun as well as effective. Her unique teaching approach incorporates elements of Hatha yoga, meditation, and mantra.

Children are inherently wise, joyful, and full of light. Radiant Child Yoga nurtures the radiant spirit in our children and helps us reclaim it in ourselves. Children have big souls in small bodies. When you relate to a child in that awareness, that child will reflect the same consciousness back to you.

In Jenny O.’s Children’s yoga class, children will move through a series of asanas (postures) that are developmentally appropriate, light meditation that allows them to find a little but of stillness, and games and songs that teach social skills like patience and respect for our surroundings. The class will often engage in creative activities that introduce yogic principles such as breath, mantra, and mudra (hand positions).  At the end of each class, Jenny O. plays the gong while the children learn relaxation.

Children’s yoga classes are divided by age group:

  • newborn to crawling
  • toddlers
  • 2-4 year olds
  • 5-7 year olds
